SOCHUM is the 3rd committee of the General Assembly and since 1945, it has tackled various issues such as women's rights, crime prevention, drug control, protecting children and refugees as well as racism and discrimination; which brings us to out topic for this year... Combatting and eliminating racial disparities and xenophobia. Racism has been an issue around the world for years, and there have been some effective as well as some ineffective resolutions to combat racism. However, there have been mass advancements in tolerance and prevention of racism, millions around the world still suffer due to inadequate action taken from countries and governments. In the conference, each delegate will evaluate racism within their countries and work together as an international committee to come to resolutions for our topic!
